I love the Zelda games! Well, at least the Wind Waker, the other ones kinda sucked. Wolf Link...doesn't sound right, but its Nintendo's job to make the Zelda games, not ours .

Personally, I've liked every Zelda game I've touched. They are all just really fun. Even the quirky ones turned out to be real good (ie. Wind Waker). I'm sure that even though the next Zelda game doesn't look quite normal, most anyone who liked the other games will like this one too.

I played Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on N64. I absolutely *loved* Ocarina. That game is probably my favorite console game out of all the console games that I've ever played. It had a fun storyline, a decent battle-system, lots of sidequests and minigames, and most of all, like-able characters! Majora's Mask was pretty good... not quite as great as Ocarina. I don't have a Gamecube so I don't know about the recent Zelda game(s), and I never really played any of the ones for NES or SNES... but yeah, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" rocks!

Lost in the big N's hype is the fact that Twilight Princess will be released in the, eh... twilight of the Gamecube's cycle. If Nintendo wants ANY chance in the next console cycle, they'd be well served to make it a Revolution title. Releasing TP on the GC in 2006 isn't going to help the big N one bit. Whereas TP on the Revolution could be a console seller. No one at this point is going to shell out for a Cube just for TP.

Video game aficionados take note... we could be seeing Nintendo's last stand.

Am I? Look how far behind PS2 and Xbox the GC sales were. Look at the gimmick that the big N has pinned their next generation hopes on. Third party publishers are likely going to be hesitent to support it. Multi-console titles are also likely going to be difficult to port to the Rev. It looks to me like Nintendo is painting itself into a corner here, and counting on people to buy into their concept. Not just consumers but developers and publishers as well.

People never thought they'd see Sega reduced to a third-party publisher, and look what happened. The numbers are not in Nintendo's favor, and if they get off the ground after both X360 and PS3... like I said, last stand.

Ocarina of Time is essentially just a 3d port of Link to the Past. Not exactly a port. But the similarities aren't a coincidence.

And to whoever thinks Nintendo is dying.

... Nintendo has marketing skills and innovation. Microsoft and Sony just have money and tired old genres.

Nintendo's last stand? I think not.

I'm hoping for another Super Smash Bros. Hopefully, online gaming.

I can feel my grades dropping and being close to dropping from college already...

new Twilight princess info this is fing tight

New Twilight Princess information *update*

06-Oct-2005

A while ago, the American magazine EGM held an interview with Eiji Aonuma of Nintendo about The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. In this interview he revealed some interesting details on the game. Today, we have gotten an extended explanation on some of the issues. We bring you the breakdown. For those who have read the previous interview, I have marked the specific new information.

We learn that Link will communicate differently with the animals depending on its state
Our hero will transform into a wolf when he passes into the Twilight Realm where Princess Zelda appears to be held captive
In animal form Link will be able to comunicate with animals. To see the things differently, his senses will be increased ten fold. Link should even be able to speak with his horse.
In the Twilight Realm, our hero will team up with a strange creature called Midna who wears a helmet with a red arm which can indicate to the player the presence of certain elements hidden in the area. Midna will climb on the back of Link wolf throughout Link's time in the Twilight Realm. We learn that Midna will be the only creature which will be able to climb upon wolf Link and there will be several ways to refill it's health bar and to change its attacks independently of Link.

Concerning Princess Zelda, she could help wolf Link to carry out certain tasks in the Twilight Realm, a co-operation which could be essential to save Hyrule, but we do not know if the player will be able to control the princess directly.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is held a few decades after The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on Nintendo 64, and it is thus possible to find certain characters we already know, like Goron and Zoras.

The game will use a system of day/night (which will not be in real time) in Hyrule and the Twilight Realm, depending on day or night, certain elements will appear and influence the gameplay. The player will need to find a time that works best with the situation, but Eiji Aonuma explains that the player will not be limited in the adventure because of this system.

Finally, Eiji Aonuma indicates that this time, the forests will be much darker at night to make the player feel more worried about his/her situation, Link's lantern will most definitely be used to make things easier, but it will be always difficult to clearly distinguish things in the area.

I enjoyed the 2D game basically, from the originals up until the two gameboy color games (Oracle of Seasons/Ages). I never enjoyed any of the gamecube or N64 games much at all, it didn't feel like Zelda to me.

nintendo's last stand? maybe not. nintendo has potential to keep going, but they may experience a few kinks before they have a pretty sure-footed market. what nintendo needs is a few more teen games, cuz im already 14 and i have a gamecube...and an xbox...and a gbc, a gba, a gba sp, a nintendo ds...and im getting 4 more consoles at christmas

What he's saying is that Nintendo can't afford failing with revolution like the gamecube failed. The GC has already lost them many loyal customers, including game producers. If the rev follows the same path, it might be Nintendo's last big console, and could force them to follow Sega home. Proving that you're a spoiled little kid with a blind Nintendo obsession carries no weight in this discussion.

I've been hearing the garbage about "Nintendo's last stand" for generations now, and it's not going to happen. They said it about the Super Nintendo (which, in my opinion, is the best console ever made), the N64, the GameCube, and now the Revolution. What you guys don't think about is this: How many people do you know who have a Game Boy? How many kids do you see playing the things? That's the bread and butter.

The difference between Nintendo and companies like Sony and Microsoft is that Nintendo makes toys, not multimedia entertainment systems.

The Revolution will play video games, not mp3s and DVDs and all that jazz. You gamers (Aracos, I'm talking to you) who buy the new Madden every year and drool over the new GTA every time it comes out are not going to be the target audience for the Revolution. It's aimed at the kids, the girlfriends, the families, the wives. Hence the new controller. New gamers can't pick up today's controllers and just start playing. They have to study and practice to be even reasonably decent at them. The Revolution is trying to be more intuitive with a pick-up-and-play approach.

I'm not saying the Revolution will blow anyone out of the water. I'm saying it doesn't need to, because that's not the point. There will be plenty of room for all 3 systems now that Nintendo has declared their market.

Congratulations, you've proven that you know nothing about me. I've never bought a Madden game, nor have I ever bought a GTA game. I just play the best games on the best systems. I have a GC, and I love my Metroid Prime. But I also have my Xbox and I love KOTOR and Halo.

I'm simply stating the facts which Nintendo devotees refuse to acknowledge. The Cube was a distant third in this console cycle. Yes I know the actual number of units sold place it CLOSE to Xbox, but the fact that X360 is getting off the ground so early make that meaningless for the next cycle. Third party developers have been constantly defecting from the Cube during its lifespan, leaving the big N with few dedicated third party developers to start with for the Rev.

The Rev's biggest selling points are that its controller looks like a TV remote and you'll be able to play old NES games on it. Now tell me there isn't a problem here. They're biggest "selling point" is that it can play 20 year old games? I don't know about you, but I'm not shelling out $100+ just to play Super Mario Bros.

And the controller... sure it opens possibilities, but from a marketing and developing standpoint, porting to the Rev is going to be difficult, especially since Nintendo (like it does with the DS) will be forcing developers to make use of its unique technology. Given the probable installed user base, what developer is going to want to make that investment? Very few.

Nintendo is basically putting themselves out on an island, isolating themselves from not only the other console makers, but third party developers also. And given the rising costs of gaming in the next generation, it's less likely that gamers will own multiple consoles. Is Mario, Samus, and Link enough to sell people on the Rev all by themselves? Sure, for some people. But enough to keep the big N in the game as a console company?

There is a distinct possibility that after this next cycle we may see Nintendo go the way of Sega, at least from the home console aspect. The GB/DS lines are still very strong. But if you can't at least see that possibility, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.
